Instant Film Christmas

Chicago, Illinois
Impossible Project 600 Color // Fujifilm Instax Wide

This year was our first Christmas together and I can easily say it was the best holiday I've ever had. No panic attacks, no fighting, no drama exactly what the holidays should be able, all about love and family. The Trevor family has easily opened their hearts to me and I'm forever grateful. Neither Ben or myself took many photographs during the holiday but here is us celebrating at our home in Rogers Park. Our real mini tree, pumpkin pancakes and just the two of us.

Summer Sixteen

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid Sun 660 // Impossible Project 600 //  Instax Wide

The first week of June Benjamin and I moved in together and it has taken me up until now to finally scan in all the instant photographs we have both taken since then. Here are a few of my favorite of Summer Sixteen.

Thankful for my Light

Wind Point, Wisconsin
SX-70 // Instax Wide

This year I spent my Thanksgiving with the Trevor family in Green Bay. I really enjoy going up to Wisconsin to see the Trevor's; they are all so supportive in our relationship and make me feel so welcomed. On our way back to Chicago Ben and I decided to stop at a random small town and take some photographs. Twenty miles from where we were I found Wind Point, Wisconsin where the oldest lighthouse along the Great Lakes. I'm incredibly thankful to be loved by Benjamin, as long as I have him by my side everything will be okay.
ps- Ben took the first two photographs

Couple Aura

Chicago Illinois
Fujifilm 100c // Aura Polaroid Camera

I'm incredibly lucky to have found someone who understands me, loves me, and most importantly supports me in no way I have ever felt before. Here is an aura polaroid photograph of Ben and myself. Together we are purple: visionary, unconventional, nonjudgemental, playful and loves to be inspired by each other. My aura is mostly red: strength, will power, new beginnings, leadership, action, practicality and passion. Ben is blue/ white: trust, loyalty, supportive, higher consciousness and wisdom.

Photobooth Self Portrait

A chemical photobooth self portrait with dried snapdragon flower pedals. Since I did not tell anyone about my sexual abuse (when I was in high school) I felt I had to be even stronger since there was no one who knew what I was struggling with. I was in hiding with a secret that was haunting me.

I am really happy to be including so many different mediums in this project; Polaroids, chemical photobooths, film all things that are near and dear to my heart. Looking forward to attending Filter Photo Festival this Thursday, although I'm anxious I have so many people who are supporting me.

Fear Self Portrait- Abuse Project

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid Land Camera 101 // Fujifilm fp-300b and fc-100c

Last week I signed up for Latitude's Critique Group and within the first meeting I left so inspired to work on this project. This is a self portrait taken with in my Polaroid Land Camera expressing my fear and consent struggle any survivor has to deal with every day. Although therapy and the support of my loved ones is helpful I can't help to feel I'm still fighting, still trying to protect myself from what I have experienced. I still have to choose which portrait will be used for the project but I wanted you all to see my favorite shots.

Rogers Park

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid 660 // Impossible Project 600

Ben and I have been living in Rogers Park for just over a month now, not only do we both love our new home but I know we are more in love than ever before. It's the mornings on the couch before he goes to work, him waking me up with kisses as he gently rubs my back, and weekends feel like mini vacations. I'm so thankful to have found someone who makes me feel more like myself and fills my days with love and support.

25th Birthday in Jersey

Millstone and Asbury Park, New Jersey
Polaroid Land Camera 250, photobooth // Fuji Film FP-100c

For my birthday, the love of my life flew me to Jersey to spend my birthday with my family for the first time since I was nineteen. We drank wine, eat fresh seafood and went on the Jersey boardwalk: nothing says summertime in Jersey any more. Twenty-five feels good <3

Twelve Hour Getaway to Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Polaroid SX-70 // Impossible Project SX-70

In the end of May, b and I went to Milwaukee to get out of Chicago even if it was just for the day. All I packed was my Polaroid SX-70 and three packs of film and we walked through the entire city. It was the first time going to the Milwaukee Art Museum even though I've been to Milwaukee a few time last year.
