Winter Light in my Apartment

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid Land Camera 250 // FujiFilm FP-100c

Last Friday I didn't have to go into work for the first time in a while. I spent most of the day recovering from all the Chicago Valentine's Day events I went too the night before, listening to my records, watching the light move throughout my apartment and making my hand made books all day. It was a lovely winter day.

600 on a 600 Project

I am very happy to announce that I will be a part of Snap It See It's newest project, 600 on a 600! Basically how it works is that 75 instant photographers are selected and a traveling Polaroid 600 box camera will be shipped around the world. Each photographer will shoot a pack on Impossible Project 's film and in total there will be 600 instant snapshots! I will keep you posted as this project continues.

Last week one of my photographic collages was featured on a popular photography blog, Lenscatch! It was an online exhibition that I am very happy to be a part of. It was an amazing feeling to be scrolling down on the page and see my artwork with my name under my collage. I even got some fan mail from a photographer, it was wonderful. If you click on the photographic collage you can see the post for yourself!

I just signed up for really cool app, Vine. What is Vine you ask? Think video Instagram without the filters. I've been saying for a while that I want to start getting into motion film. Watching more independent and older movies and trying to find the right motion camera to inspire me. This app is a great way to for me to practice thinking in motion.

If you click on the photo you can see my first post! The video is an inside look of where I work A&A Studios, a photobooth and analog photography heaven. If you are near Chicago we are located 350 North Ogden Suite 410 Chicago, Illinois 60607. Open every Saturday from 10am to 6pm or by appointment (in advance).

New Years Eve in Brookyln

Brooklyn, New York
Polaroid Panoramic Autofocus 3000AF// Kodak Portra ISO 400

This New Years Eve was THE BEST I have ever had! Sarah (my roommate from Florence) and I traveled to Brooklyn to meet up with our friend Elias (who we met while traveling Spain). It was so wonderful seeing Sarah again, it was our first time seeing each other in the states! I miss her everyday, she is more than my best friend she is like a sister to me. Seeing Elias was just as refreshing, he is like my older brother who calls me out on my shit. I love it, I love these two people! So of course I photographed the whole night because I wanted to remember everything haha. I'm totally bummed because the photos of the rooftop didnt come out properly. But at midnight we went to the roof and watched fireworks fill the sky. Brooklyn treated me well and I can't wait to go back!

Dave Matthews Band Forever

^^ Body Tinsley the Violinist from Dave Matthews Band!  ^^

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Polaroid Panoramic Autofocus 3000AF// Kodak Portra ISO 400

This December my parents and I went to my fourteenth Dave Matthews Band concert. It was the best show I have ever seen! My parents and I drove to philly to see the show. We got a hotel that was right near the concert hall and the hotel bar was playing only Dave Matthews Band and my parents and I were getting so excited. I love being able to share these experiences with my Father and Mother, it means so much more than I think they know. We drink, eat and be merry listening to DMB. Then when we got into the concert my Father was able to get us to the very bottom level, right near the stage! We danced and sang our asses off until we were all falling off the stairs (with pride). After the show (with my Mother's help) I was able to MEET BOYD TINSLEY! The violinist from Dave Matthews Band! It was an amazing night and I love that I can forever remember the great weekend my parents and I had! Of course we were all hungover the next day, but that just means we did something right!

How Quickly Four Months Can Pass

Chicago, Illinois
Olympus EE-Pen 2// Found Expired Slide film

I found this film in the back of my fridge one day in the middle of the summer and it took me a while to finish the roll and even longer to develop. I'm happy how the film came out! It's not my style to casually shoot slide film but I may start the habit.

Found Film Part Two

New York, New York and Chicago, Illinois
Ilford HP5 ISO 400// Canon AutoFocus 35mm

Developed a roll of film from winter break of 2011. The top two photographs are from the MoMa, it took me almost forty-five minutes to crack the code of moons. I really enjoyed the piece, too bad I forget what the message said or who the artist is (I'm sure I have it written down somewhere). I want to shoot more black and white film.

Winter Break in Four Photographs

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid SX-70// Impossible PX 70 Color Protection

Winter break came and went so quickly. I cannot believe it's February already, I feel like just last week I was recovering from seven finals. During break I spent a lot of my time creating some new photographic collages (that I will post later) and cleaning out my apartment. I decided to get rid of anything I haven't touched in the past six months. I got rid of a whole dresser of clothes I never wore and made it into my photo dresser! Holding all my negatives safely. I also put ALL of my instant photographs in photo albums to protect them better. My apartment has never looked better! It's going to be sad when I have to move, but I just keep telling myself darkroom, artists studio, darkroom!!

Last week I went to the Music Box to see Port of the Shadows, an 1936 french film. What a great movie! It was my first film that spoke in French so I had to depend on the sub-titles. Since I live so close to the Music Box I plan on going to see a movie at least one a week. I feel that I should have better knowledge about films and maybe it can help me with my photography. My next film I plan on seeing is Casablanca, can you believe it that I've never seen it before?
