Found Chicago

Chicago, Illinois
Nikon SE 35mm // Kodak Portra ISO 400

I finally scanned in some film I shot back in the summer of 2012. I took my camera with me to a few estate sales and to the West Loop of Chicago. It's a roll like this that makes me thankful I'm a photographer, I'm able to document my life and fall in love with my city again.

To Rome With Love

Rome, Italy
Nikon SE 35mm// Kodak Portra ISO 400

After over a year I was almost in tears as I scanned in my photographs from Europe. I miss traveling the world with Sarah, she is the other half of my kiwi! Did I mention how much I love scanning my film at home rather than going to a digital lab. Epson 750, you rule.

Found Polaroid Selfies

About a year ago I purchased my favorite eBay purchase ever, over three hundred found Polaroids. I found these selfies and thought the world needed to see them too. You're welcome.

Happy Sunday

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid Sun 660// Impossible PX 680 and Impossible PX Gold Edition (2011)

Last Sunday was my day off and I decided to be surrounded by my Polaroid, raw/ vegan food and art. I started my day with walking to Logan Square Farmers Market, they have an indoor market now and it's has great stuff! I got some radishes, squash, ginger, two beautiful plants and the best score was ten pounds of frozen locally grown blueberries (and yes my green smoothies are even better now). Coming home with all my goodies I decided to stop by Galerie F it was the last day they were showing the You Are Beautiful: The Next Chapter show. What a truly inspiring show, I was seriously considering of purchasing a print but I had a box of blueberries in my hands. As soon as I got home a crazy storm came over and everything went dark. After my vegan friendly lunch at The Chicago Diner I headed over to Dose Market after I was asked to be an artist by Brave New Art World and I wanted to check it out. There was a digital photobooth, screen printer, and lots of wonderful artists there. Afterwards I have never been more motivated to focus all my energy into being an artist. I am going to finally start my Etsy store and getting my work shown into galleries, not working for them. Then for the rest of the afternoon I prepared a raw and vegan meal for my analog geek friend Steven, we both us to work at the Lomography store. I love cooking for other people and it was wonderful to talk about artwork, photography and life in general. I think I'm going to make this a regular thing: Cooking (preparing raw food) Sundays, Happy Sundays.

San Francisco

San Francisco, California
Nikon FE 35mm SLR/ Olympus Penn EE 2/ Photobooth SF's 4x5 camera
Kodak Portra ISO 400/ tintype

Back in July my family and I went to San Francisco for three days before enjoying our vacation in Hawaii. My excitement for San Francisco was at it's highest because it was my first time there and all I wanted to do is go to Photobooth and get my tintype portrait taken. As soon as we arrived to SF my family and I quickly hopped in a cab and we went straight there. I was like a little kid at a candy store, the 4x5 studio, darkroom, Polaroid cameras I was in heaven. The empolyees there were so lovely, helping me explain what a tintype is to my family. My father was asking lots of questions (which made me so happy) that he was so interested. After eating great food, drinking lovely wine and see the sights of San Francisco I would happily go back. My father also scored us amazing late minute tickets for the San Francisco Giants vs. New York Mets, we thought it was appropriate we attend, and man what an awesome game! They even had veggie dogs there, so damn good.

That Opening Door

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid SX-70 // Impossible PX 70 COOL!

Yesterday was quite a lovely day: the art consultant (who purchased eight of my photographic collages) said that the hotel, designers, everyone loved to artwork that I created for them! They asked me if I was up for the task of creating over 200 collages for the guest bedrooms and of course I said yes. It's a wonderful opportunity for me to create the artwork I enjoy creating as well as a nice big fat paycheck. The phone call put me in a such as wonderful mood I was dancing around my apartment all afternoon. This is the opening door I was waiting for, and this project is going to take a lot of work but I know I will succeed. My father says I need to open my own business because I'm making so much money through my artwork I have to fret about income taxes and such. I honestly never thought I would be doing this, making money through my own artwork! I am extremely proud of myself and I thought it deserved a selfie.

Living in Logan

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid SX-70 // Impossible PX70 COOL

My apartment in Logan Square is really coming together, it feels really good that my vinyls, books and most of my cameras are off my floor. The past two months have been a roller coaster of ups and downs but I can happily say I have never felt so positive in my life. Sometimes doors close so new ones can open. I'm really diving into improving my raw/ vegan lifestyle and regularly going back to yoga. I'm looking forward to the late fall early winter season coming, when I'm most creative. I love sleeping in the cold and waking up to a chilly hardwood floor with a warm cup of herbal tea. (and my green smoothie!)

Woman Collages

Words cannot express how much I enjoy creating photographic collages in my new artist's studio. Here are some new collages that I know I like, I have about three more but I still not confident with them just yet. I plan on using more found written text in my work, I have tons of post cards and letters between family members, lovers and friends. Get excited about my new direction of work because I am.
