RAWards 2012: Chicago's Photographer of the Year

Just wanted to update about RAWards 2012: I won Chicago's Photographer of Year! I was completely surprised and extremely proud of myself. This meant I was going up against the rest of nation to become National Photographer of the Year. It was out of my hands and into a long wait to hear back from the judges. Last week they announced the winners and sadly I did not win. Being a National Finalist and Chicago Photographer of the Year, is still pretty great. Once again I would like to thank everyone for all the support.

Fall on Fletcher

Chicago, Illinois
Polaroid Classic SX-70
Impossible Project New Formula PX 70 Color Shade

As I was walking home I noticed that tree across the street finally turned full red. I was so excited I quickly went up to my apartment to grab my SX-70 and went back outside. It was a perfect fall afternoon, and I knew it was the final days. So to embrace my favorite season, I continued to go for a walk in my neighborhood. It was nice to turn my brain off for a little while.

I am excited for this 21-credited semester and internship to be over, yet it's the happiest I've ever been. I feel like my career and artwork are finding the right paths. When I graduate this May I will have three types of internships under my belt. And I have the greatest support system thanks to all my friends and family. Life is good!
